After hearing from a Facebook friend that we were on the Today Show, while still laying in bed, we were in for a big surprise.

Let's rewind a bit...

On July 11th, Michelle recorded the amazing moment that eventually went viral. I uploaded the video to YouTube for friends and family to watch, and posted on Reddit.com/r/daddit, just for fun. That night, the video hit well over 2,000 views and the Reddit post was #1 for the Daddit sub. 

But the attention didn't stop there! A few days later (July 15th), we got a message from a Break.com affiliate asking to license the video. After a bit of back and forth, we agreed and they posted the video on their channel. It was even more of a hit! Their video got well over 55,000 views in a day.

Hours after posting on Break.com, we had already hit 26k views
By Tuesday, July 21st, the Break.com clip had hit 122k views, and it was climbing fast! Before the end of the week, it had well over 250,000 views. What happened next really got the ball rolling.

On Saturday, July 25th at 10:41 AM (EDT), /u/MynameisJeffff posted the Break.com clip to the Videos subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/3ek9ng/

A Facebook friend let me know that it was getting a lot of traction - in fact, it hit the #2 top video for the day on the sub. It was almost on the front page of Reddit. It topped out at #58 on the default subs. I jumped right in and started posting within the comment thread, using the original YouTube video as my proof of ownership.

That day, Mashable added it to their email newsletter and A LOT of other online sites started reporting on it. Most linked to the original upload (on my channel). By the evening on July 26th, Break.com's clip had surpassed 1 million views, and mine just started to gain traction.

...and that brings us to today, the big day!

To start, the Today Show featured the video in a very entertaining and engaging way (around 7:30 AM).

Before noon, I had multiple media inquiries, and my first video interview lined up with Inside Edition. I let Michelle know that I was coming home for lunch and she should be ready.

That wasn't the end of it! There were dozens of sites online reporting on the video (check Media Mentions) and celebrities Tweeting about it:
Many of the sites linked directly to my channel, growing the video to well over 350,000 views! Break.com's upload continues to grow, with well over 1.3 million!

It's been quite the ride already, can't wait to see what's next!
